Homemade Marshymallows

We cooked up some fresh marshmallows today, trying out a recipe that
we might use to make Halloween s'mores next weekend.

They turned out really well, though now we have about a year's worth
of marshmallow. Good thing they freeze well.

Skeletons are a pesky sort.

It went much faster than I thought it was going to. That's always a

We whizzed through the ticket line for the Statue of Liberty & Ellis
Island only to find a massive line for the ferry itself. Hopefully the
line will move quickly.

OK...so as soon as we let her go she pawed at it relentlessly trying
to get it off. Hopefully Target will take back a slightly used
chicken...

Pre-Tropical Storm

It's hot & very humid (@ 2:00 pm). It definitely feels tropical. No
wind and not much rain right now. Hanna isn't supposed to come through
until late tonight to morning tomorrow.

Our dehumidifier

We've had some problems in the basement with mold growing on Tabby's
food because of the humidity in our basement.

We got the dehumidifier at Morgan & White, which is run by a couple of
old guys (Mr. Morgan & Mr. White we presume). It was very old school
as far as appliance stores go, but they did have good humidifiers in
stock, which we found out was not too common at other places.

Celebrating the first day of school

The first day went really well. I have mainly upper level freshies
this semester, so there was a lot of timidity in the group, but they
did seem like a nice bunch of kids.

The room is nice and large. Lots of space and plenty of storage. Now I
just need to figure out what I'm teaching a little better.
