NYC Trip 2007- Tuesday, July 17th: Central Park, Serendipity 3, Sayonara

Tuesday we started off with a trip to the Dean & DeLuca visible on the Today show for coffee & a morning treat. We then headed up to check out Central Park.
The "Imagine" mosaic in the Strawberry Fields section of Central Park was decorated with flowers when we walked through.
The Lake (where you can rent boats) has very interesting coloring...I don't think it'd be a very good place to swim.
Walking through the Bethesda Terrace with Bethesda Fountain in the background.
We rented bikes to better check out the entirety of the park. The only bikes available were one speed cruisers- though some were hoping for tandems. Here we are cruisin'.

Looking over The Lake with the city in the background.
A view of New York over The Reservoir.
Belvedere Castle in Central Park.
Looking south down the Mall.
We stopped in at Dylan's Candy Bar while we were waiting for lunch. Sam suckered me into this picture.
Jamie (male) had to leave to catch his flight, so once we saw him off it was time to eat. For lunch we went to Serendipity 3, which is well known for being a hangout of Andy Warhol as well as being featured in the movies Serendipity and One Fine Day. The restaurant is named after the Three Princes of Serendip (a Persian fairy tale), from which the term serendipity was coined.
We had to wait 45 minutes or so for a table, standing in the extremely crowded entry way. We would've waited outside, but it was hot.
Serendipity 3 is famous for their Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, which is an ice cream/drink dessert that tastes just like hot chocolate. It was delicious- Sam is definitely enjoying it!
We also tried the "Can't Say No" Sundae, consisting of humble pie, ice cream, banana, hot fudge, and whipped cream. It was delightful!
After lunch, we hit up M & M World in Times Square (featuring Cool Blue here). We then went back to the hotel, grabbed our bags, and headed out of the city...
